Do’s & Don'ts

  • One ampoule is for single use only. Left over adhesive must be discarded
  • Surgbond should be applied over the approximated edges of the wound & not inside of the wound
  • Do not wash the sealed area with water for atleast four days
  • Correction of the skin edges cannot be done once the adhesive has dried
  • Protect from light, freezing and excessive heat
  • The contents of Surgbond ampoule is for external use only. Not to be injected
  • Surgbond must be used only when in liquid form. The condition of Surgbond can be assessed before opening the adhesive ampoule. If found viscous, discard the product.

If it sticks where it shouldn't, apply petroleum jelly or acetone to help remove it.

Usage of Surgbond

  • Remove SURGBOND package from storage and bring it to room temperature
  • Clean and dry the wound area immediately
  • Snap the tip of the SURGBOND ampoule at the marked area carefully
  • Approximate the wound edges. Forceps can be used to hold the edges of the skin
  • Apply a thin layer of SURGBOND throughout the wound. Allow it to dry for about 2 minutes

Why use Surgbond?

For many wounds, Surgbond is considered a highly desirable replacement for sutures. There are several reasons why Surgbond is a better alternative:

No needles

Surgbond is applied with topical anaesthetic. Patient acceptance and satisfaction is increased. No anaesthetic injections mean less hesitation by many patients, especially children.

Faster wound healing times

This is due to the water-resistant nature of the covering, and the microbial barrier to bacteria.

No return appointments

There are no sutures to remove. This saves everyone time, leading to higher patient satisfaction.

Bonds in minutes

Skilled physicians apply the medical glue quickly and easily.

No suture “train tracks”

Wound strength is equivalent to healed tissue in 7 days with no suture stitch marks, avoiding suboptimal cosmesis.
